Field to Florist Masterclass

Field to Florist Masterclass

From growing seasonal British flowers to creating beautiful floristry. Come and spend a day at Birch Farm Flowers learning how to grow, harvest and work with seasonal British flowers. Working in a small group, this one-day immersive masterclass brings together horticulture and floristry, following the journey of a flower from field to florist.

Presented by Elizabeth Finlow of Birch Farm Flowers and Joanne Fletcher of Fletcher & Foley Floral Design, the day combines Elizabeth's experience of growing flowers commercially with Joanne's 16 years of experience as a wedding and event florist.

Who is it for?

Whether you're considering starting a flower farm or cut-flower business, already growing commercially, interested in offering DIY wedding flowers, or simply want to grow beautiful flowers and create arrangements at home, this day is designed to give you practical knowledge and inspiration you can take away and use.

In the Field Elizabeth will share her experience of running a working flower farm, covering what to grow and how to plan your seasonal planting, harvesting and conditioning, preparing flowers for sale, creating DIY wedding buckets, pricing and delivery, and finding and working with florists. She'll also share the realities, timescales and pitfalls of growing for floristry.

In the Barn Joanne will share her experience as a wedding and event florist, covering what florists are looking for, managing expectations, working with seasonal British flowers, colour palettes, floristry tools and mechanics, design, packaging and presentation, and preparing and delivering flowers for weddings and events.

Joanne will also demonstrate a bridal bouquet and buttonhole, sharing her approach to design and mechanics. From Field to Florist Together, we'll explore the journey from growing and preparing a seasonal flower to creating beautiful wedding and event floristry. You'll receive full sowing lists and timetable and bouquet design notes, plus a day of practical knowledge, discussion and inspiration.
